Mahabir S. Atwal, Ph.D.

Mahabir S. Atwal, Ph.D., completed his Masters and Doctorate degree in England with specialization in the Sound Absorption Mechanism. Upon completion of Doctorate he joined Purdue University as Post Doctoral Research Associate and Professor, where he taught Acoustics and did his research in the area of Sound Transmission with emphasis on reducing noise within aircraft, the main area being, “Improving the Fuselage Structure from the Noise Standpoint without increasing the mass of the Fuselage”. Dr. Atwal then moved to Consulting in the area of Acoustics, Noise and Vibration. He has provided consulting on over 1,000 projects. Dr. Atwal is a Principal at VSA and Associates. VSA and Associates, located in the Los Angeles area has been providing Acoustics, Noise and Vibration control services for 30 years. Dr Atwal has participated in major architectural projects including apartments, airports, CEQA, condominiums, courthouses, child care centers, co-generation, detention centers, environmental, gymnasiums, hospitals, industrial facilities, hotels, office buildings, laboratories, railway stations, shopping centers, university buildings. Consultation included room acoustics, sound isolation, community noise impact, impact on project of freeway or aircraft noise, and HVAC, plumbing, electrical and elevator system noise and vibration control.

Michael has over 35 years experience in the design of Audio Visual systems. Michael is certified by most manufacturers to design and install their systems. Responsible for Consultation, Design, Engineering and Management of projects, which involve all aspects of Sound Reinforcement and Media Presentation from conception through construction. Project experience includes: Theaters, Performing Arts Centers, NOC Rooms, Corporate and Military Briefing Rooms, Conference and Training Facilities, Hearing and Boardrooms, Superior Court Facilities, Hotels, Restaurants, Major Retail Concept Facilities Regional Shopping Centers, Football and Baseball Stadiums and Houses of Worship of all religions and denominations Systems design experience includes Sound Reinforcement Systems for speech and music, Video and Multimedia projection systems, Paging Systems, Noise Masking Systems, Media Distribution and Control Systems, and Destination Hotel Meeting Spaces.
